Stress is anything that upsets our body’s balance. Sources of stress can be physical or emotional. Although some tension is helpful in moving forward in life, prolonged stress and unresolved tension is not beneficial. The conventional definition of being healthy is not having any disease. The eastern definition of being healthy is the state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, not just simply the absence of disease. Having a mindful approach to living, gives us a sense of purpose and inner-peace.
Meditation has been a topic of ongoing research. Studies have shown that it helps to strengthen the immune system, enhance creativity, reduce anxiety, and support overall health and well-being. Meditation is a practice that helps us deepen self-awareness and get in touch with our true essence. It is a tool to help quiet and focus the mind. There are many types of meditation, and many relaxation techniques that help ease us into meditation. Although guidance is helpful when beginning or deepening a meditation experience, the most important thing is practice and commitment. The rest will unfold all on it’s own.
Mindfulness is about being fully awake in our lives. It is about perceiving the exquisite vividness of each moment. We feel more alive. We also gain immediate access to our own powerful inner resources for insight, transformation, and healing.
